One among the thousand

I’m bobbing on the ocean

A craft without a sail

One wave amongst the thousand

Smashed by mighty mammals’ tails

I’m floating in the atmosphere

Teetering on space

One cloud amongst the thousand

Blown by winds, we bob and race

I’m growing in the earth

My roots are buried deep

One tree amongst the thousand

In the woodlands that you seek

I’m sitting here in silence

My feet are firmly placed

One human of the millions

From the teeming human race.

A poem inspired by the idea of being a small part of something much greater than the sum of its parts.
